20 days (4 weeks) available to all Residents and Fellows for vacation, personal and sick time as per the HCA GME Manual.
Professional Liability Insurance
Residents and Fellows are covered by the Hospital’s professional malpractice insurance while performing duties within their scope of the Medical Education Program.
An education stipend will be provided to the resident/fellow in two separate payments in the months of July and January of each academic year. This stipend amount is provided to cover the expenses which may include but are not limited to:
- Educational Materials
- Professional Membership Dues
- Conference and Travel Expenses
- COMLEX/USMLE Step 3 Registration
Board Review Courses
New residents or fellows will receive a $500.00 stipend to cover the time spent in on site and online orientation activities. All residents/fellows receive the following stipend in two separate payments each academic year. This amount is subject to taxes:

Expenses Covered by the Hospital:
The hospital shall pay for the resident or fellow’s medical educational limited license (training license). In cases where a full medical license is required by the medical board, the hospital shall pay for this license as well.
The hospital shall provide certification courses and any related materials required by the hospital and/or the program, including but not limited to Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), pursuant to the program manual.
The program shall pay for the in-training examinations in the applicable specialty.
The hospital shall provide two laboratory coats per academic year (July 1 – June 30).
