Largo, FL - Largo Medical Center announced that it has achieved the Healthgrades 2021 America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™. The distinction places Largo Medical Center in the top two percent of nearly 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide for superior clinical performance year-over-year, as measured by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems.
“Now more than ever, I am proud to share that Largo Medical Center has achieved such an award. Our community deserves world-class, compassionate care and this designation is a direct reflection of the level of healthcare our team consistently provides to our patients” shares Adam Rudd, Chief Executive Officer of Largo Medical Center.
From 2017 through 2019, patients treated in hospitals achieving the award had, on average, a 26.1 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award, as measured across 19 rated conditions and procedures for which mortality is the outcome.*
And during that same period, if all hospitals performed similarly to those achieving the Healthgrades America's 100 Best Hospitals Award, 172,298 lives could potentially have been saved. For example, patients treated for community acquired pneumonia in hospitals achieving the award have, on average, a 35.4 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*
“The Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Award recognizes top hospitals for their ongoing pursuit of the highest healthcare standards and exceptional outcomes,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. ”We commend the recipients of this award for their ongoing commitment to providing high quality healthcare.”
In addition to America’s 100 Best Hospital Award, Largo Medical Center has been recognized as:
- Five Star Recipients for: Pacemaker Procedures, Hip Fracture Treatment, Esophageal/Stomach Surgeries, Small Intestine Surgeries, Treatment of Pancreatitis, Gallbladder Removal Surgery, Appendectomy
- Recipient of Healthgrades General Surgery Excellence Award™
- Named Among the Top 10% in the Nation for General Surgery
America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award recipients are recognized for overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care. During the 2021 study period (Medicare Fiscal Years 2017-2019), these hospitals showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients in the Medicare population across at least 21 of 32 most common inpatient conditions and procedures — as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).
