Largo Medical Center
September 23, 2020

September is National Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month which serves as a timely reminder that AFib is the most commonly diagnosed heart arrhythmia and is estimated to affect as many as 6 million Americans.

Largo Medical Center is proud to offer the latest technology available for patients with atrial fibrillation. The hospital is one of the first in the Tampa Bay area to offer this option, as an alternative to the lifelong use of blood thinners for people with atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem.

“The latest device serves as a safe and effective stroke risk reduction alternative for patients with non-valvular AF, especially those with a compelling reason not to be on blood thinners,” Dr. Shalin Shah.   “I’m proud to have performed the first implant of this device at Largo Medical Center as it offers another patient a potentially life-changing stroke risk treatment and will allow us to treat a broader range of patients going forward.”

At Largo Medical Center, we provide comprehensive cardiac services and full continuum of heart care, which includes treatment for heart arrhythmia, heart disease and heart failure, advanced heart and vascular surgeries and heart transplant.
