Largo Medical Center Launches Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program

Largo, FL - Largo Medical Center is excited to begin a new Fellowship program in Interventional Cardiology. This program is one of twelve available at the teaching hospital.

This program is designed to provide Cardiologists with high quality instruction and experience in interventional cardiology techniques plus education in the identification of cardiac disease states that are responsive to cardiac catheter-based intervention. Cardiologists who train in the program will acquire the medical knowledge and technical skill to diagnosis and treat complex cardiac diseases which may require sophisticated, complex cardiac catheter procedure-based interventions.

“The Largo Medical Center Interventional Cardiology fellowship also provides additional training in interventional treatments for peripheral vascular disease,” said Merrill Krolick, DO, the Program Director of Interventional Cardiology Fellowship. “The high faculty to fellow ratio provides a unique opportunity for Cardiologists to learn interventional techniques”.

The Interventional Cardiology Program provides clinical learning opportunities on two campuses. Largo Medical Center is an Accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers and is certified by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center.

Largo Medical Center recently earned the Statutory Teaching Hospital designation by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) in 2010. This prestigious designation is part of the hospital’s commitment to expand graduate medical education programs which meet the growing need for physicians in the community, Florida and the nation. The Graduate Medical Education program at Largo Medical Center is the third largest osteopathic medical teaching program in Southern United States and is affiliated with Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.
