In our physical therapy department, therapists evaluate and treat patients who have functional limitations. They assess a patient's strength, muscle tone, pain, range of motion, balance, ability to walk and ability to perform daily activities. A physical therapist then develops an individualized treatment plan to meet each patient's needs and to decrease pain, increase strength, motion, balance and coordination. Treatment may include manual physical therapy and exercises to increase strength and range of movement, education, and treatment modalities. Special care is taken to keep the patient informed about their progress and to prevent further injury. Therapists work with a variety of diagnoses and injuries, including:
- Orthopedic problems: Sprains and strains, post surgical patients, age-related issues
- Spinal conditions
- Neurological conditions including Stroke and Parkinson’s
- General Weakness
- Balance Difficulties
- Post-Mastectomy/breast surgery scar management
