Patient policies and procedures

HCA Florida Largo Hospital strives to give patients the best experience possible by creating and carrying out patient-focused policies and procedures.

Patient information

We want your hospital experience to be as comfortable as possible. That's why we offer the following information to help prepare you for your admission and hospital experience.

Your physician

Your doctor arranges for your admission, decides what tests and procedures you receive, prescribes your medications and diet while you're in the hospital and decides when you are ready to be discharged. It is important that you discuss your care with your physician while you are hospitalized at HCA Florida Largo Hospital.

Outpatient testing

Make sure your doctor has called the hospital to order the outpatient procedure needed. If your physician gives you the paperwork/order for your test, be sure to bring it with you when you report for the test.

Your privacy password

At admission, every patient is given a confidential password. Patients are told to share it with people they want to receive their confidential patient health information. Nurses and staff can provide information about the patient’s health ONLY to people who know the password. This password is only for verbal communication regarding treatment or payment during this hospital stay. It will not be honored once the patient is discharged. Remember our staff will not release health information without this password.

Valuables

Leave unnecessary valuables at home. Be prepared to pay your co-payments and deductibles, but do not bring large amounts of cash with you. We cannot be responsible for loss or breakage of personal items brought into the hospital.

Advance directives

If you have a Living Will, bring a copy when you report to Admitting. If you want to have one in your medical file, the Admitting Office has forms available.

Your private room TV and telephone

There is no additional charge for your private patient room, TV and local phone calls. However, you must call collect or charge long-distance calls to your home number or credit card. Our hospital cannot add them to your hospital bill. Friends and relatives can call you directly by dialing (727) 588-5200, ext. 2 and your room number.

Connected to caring

21st century technology has given HCA Florida Largo Hospital the opportunity to improve the patient experience in some of the most astonishing ways.

Connected Care platform

With the introduction of the Connected Care platform, we've made feeling better again faster, safer and more convenient than it's even been! As one of the first HCA Florida hospitals to tap into the power of wireless technology, we've launched a new era in healthcare.

We're using this advanced technology to provide exceptional care through:

iMobile — Through the power of wireless devices, we can instantly pull up and view your current medical record and communicate with your care team.

Electronic Communication Boards — Patient rooms have an electronic communication board that lists their:

  • attending physician's name
  • nurse for that shift
  • tech for that shift
  • activity
  • upcoming tests
  • pain score
  • diet
  • goals for the day

The communications boards light up during the day and dim down at night so a patient's rest is assured.

Navigating the healthcare process

HCA Florida hospitals are dedicated to supporting our patients and helping them navigate the healthcare process.
