Largo Physician Appointed Full Time Chief Academic Officer of Graduate Medical Education at Largo Medical Center

Largo, FL - The home to one of the largest osteopathic Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs in the Southeastern United States now has a full time Chief Academic & Designated Institutional Officer. Largo Medical Center is proud to have Anthony Ottaviani, DO,MPH, MACOI, FCCP appointed to the program’s helm with full time oversight of 125 interns, residents and fellows in 13 specialized programs.
Dr. Ottaviani is a Pulmonary Medicine/Critical Care Specialist who was in private practice for more than three decades and has been a leader in academic medicine for almost four decades having served as the Director of Medical Education for both Sun Coast Hospital and Largo Medical Center and Regional Dean for Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Ottaviani holds several academic appointments including Clinical Professor of Medicine at Nova Southeastern University and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care with the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida. Effective this month, Dr. Ottaviani is now providing leadership on a full time basis to Largo Medical Center’s prestigious Graduate Medical Education program.
He has provided inspirational and academic leadership and has been awarded several deserving accolades including being appointed the Regional Dean for Nova Southeastern University, of which Largo Medical Center is designated the West Coast Academic Center, Master Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI), President of ACOI, President Elect for the American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) and Chairman of the AOF Scholarship Committee . He is a past President of Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. Dr. Ottaviani received the Medal of Excellence as well as the Distinguished Service Award from Nova Southeastern University and has been elected to the AOA Mentor Hall of Fame.
