Largo, FL - Largo Medical Center, an HCA West Florida hospital, will expand access to emergency care in Clearwater in the fall of 2014 with the opening of a freestanding emergency department in central Pinellas County called Clearwater ER. The site is located at 2339 Gulf to Bay Blvd. The media is invited to attend the groundbreaking of Clearwater ER slated for Wednesday, April 9 at 8:15 a.m.
Located on a 2.4-acre site, the 10,600-square-foot, one-story facility is expected to serve more than 18,000 patients a year. The $8 million ER will feature 11 exam rooms and initially employ 41 full-time staff members and six full-time physicians.
“Largo Medical Center is committed to expanding healthcare access in central Pinellas County by bringing world-class emergency services to our community,” said Anthony Degina, Chief Executive Officer of Largo Medical Center. “We look forward to providing patients more options for high-quality, convenient emergency care.”
The freestanding facility will operate as a full-service emergency room providing 24/7 care, with dedicated trauma and CT scan rooms as well as laboratory and imaging services. Devenney Group is serving as the project’s architect. Bradenton-based PHM Group is the general contractor.
“For the more than 35,000 residents living closest, the Clearwater ER will be one of their greatest assets during an emergency,” said Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos. “The city is excited about the opening of this emergency room this coming fall.”
Parking for the groundbreaking will be available for attendees as well as the media.
