Plans Totaling More Than $4 Million Include Additional Behavioral Unit, New Sleep Disorders Lab Plus Rehabilitation Renovations

Largo, FL – Largo Medical Center is proud to announce the grand opening of three innovative and technologically advanced units. The hospital has spent more than $4 million creating additions to the Behavioral Health Unit, renovating the Inpatient Rehabilitation department and the relocating and renovating of the new Sleep Disorders Laboratory. These expansions are part of the growth at the hospital’s Indian Rocks Road campus. Construction began in April 2014 with completion of all phases expected by the end of August 2014.

“With our community continuing to grow, Largo Medical Center, is seeing the growth and the need for expansion first hand,” said Anthony Degina, Chief Executive Officer, Largo Medical Center. “These changes will provide greater access for our patients and physicians.”

The Behavioral Health unit is expanding from 47 to 71 beds, and includes two new specialty treatment units. Services now include a geriatric unit and an adult intensive treatment unit, where patients will receive personalized treatment by a highly trained staff.

The Inpatient Rehabilitation department’s patient rooms are being upgraded, which includes converting the department to all private patient rooms. In addition, a new patient activity room was built and the daily living room and therapy gym have been refurbished and equipment has been updated.

The Sleep Disorders Laboratory has been conveniently relocated to the first floor of Largo Medical Center’s Indian Rocks Road campus to better accommodate our patients. The new lab has new computer technology for patients and physicians and newly designed sleep rooms.

Construction began in April 2014 with completion of all phases expected by the end of August 2014.
