Largo, FL – Largo Medical Center is pleased to announce David Weiland, Jr, MD, as the hospital’s new Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Weiland is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine and joins Largo Medical Center with more than two decades of healthcare experience. Dr. Weiland served as Vice President of Medical Affairs at Bayfront Medical Center, Medical Director for Suncoast Hospice and ER physician at the Bay Pines VA Health System and the James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital in Tampa. He was in private practice at the Downtown Medical and Diagnostic Center in St. Petersburg.

Dr. Weiland received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree and completed residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Through the years, he has served on numerous boards and committees including the Pinellas County Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association and the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education.

Dr. Weiland has received many awards and honors including being recognized by US News and World Report as a Best Doctor. He received the Tampa Bay Metro Magazine Best Doctor Award, was called a Florida Top Physician by Florida Monthly Magazine and is a USF Distinguished Alumni.
