Does your target audience know what a heart attack is? Do you think they know the signs and symptoms? How about treatment? If you answered no to any of these questions, a free educational seminar called Heart Smart 2011 at Largo Medical Center on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. is the event they need to attend to learn it all… and you can tell them about it!
This seminar is designed to be an educational and comprehensive event to increase public awareness of heart disease and treatment. You will learn about STEMI (ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction), including signs, symptoms and risk factors. Other topics include minimally invasive heart surgery, atrial fibrillation and fatigue related cardiac conditions.
Presenters from the American Heart Association, a Largo Medical Center Emergency Medicine Physician, Interventional Cardiologist, Electrophysiologist, and a Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeon will participate to teach and answer questions. Free Blood Pressure and AHA Life Check Cardiovascular Health Screenings will be available to all seminar attendees.
“It is imperative that our community understand the risk factors associated with heart disease and that time is of the essence when a heart attack occurs,” said Janet Morra, Largo Medical Center, Director Cardiovascular Services. “There are a lot of preventive medications and treatments available today. Knowing the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and getting to the hospital as fast as possible when a heart attack occurs may make a difference in the quality of life for the patient, for the rest of their life.”
